Sorry!

So i know I haven't updated this blog in a while... It's a bit sad really, I got depressed that we didn't get quoracy at the General Meeting, so nothing was constitutional. Thusly I shied away from talking about it, so I apologise.

But on the bright side, there were some good discussion points raised, and we were able to take away some useful campaigns and information. Such as buses, which will go to the bus tendering committee, and e-refs, which I'm still dead keen on getting in the costitution.

Outside of EXEC i've been working in the SUBU Shop, made some good promotions for pancake day (FUN!) because outside for student volunteer week there were free pancakes being made and given out...

But enough about the past, there's so much to look forward to in the future that I shouldn't be getting hung up on the past. As Rafiki from the Lion King says, you can either run from it, or learn from it. I don't want to get hit over the head with a bamboo stick so i'm going to learn from it and focus on the future.

Student Volunteer Week as I said is this week and there's loads for you to do, like make a pledge in the atrium, go on a sleepout for the homeless, or even clean up the beach on Friday. But that's just this week, there's more too, as this also coincides with the start of FairTrade Fortnight. It is being headed up by EXEC's Emily, so she's the most knowelegable person to speak to about it, but all I will say is Banana Milkshake competition! Hehe

Yeah, and then there's elections, with 8 people running for the Sabbatical positions it's looking quite close, so it's even more important for you to check out their videos on www.subu.org.uk/elections

And then there's Easter, with my birthday, but aside from that, Red Nose Day, SUBU Awards ceremony (which i'm helping with the organising of on the comms committee), and the Summerball tickets which go on sale on March 23rd.

So, I hope that's bought you up to speed, if there's anything you have an opinion on please email me and i'll do the best I can, with anything from desserts in dylan's, to a possible ban on Facebook, i'm all ears :)

As your student representative i'll happily hear any problems you've experienced.

if you have something to add, feel free to email me on sugeneralsec@bournemouth.ac.uk.

Other than that, i'll catch you later!

See you around!

Catchup Time!

Just an excuse to wear tights!

So, first things first:
I'm Jamie, your Students' Union Secretary. I'm in my final year of journalism, and my job is to hold the EXEC officers to account, keep true and accurate minutes of any meetings, and uphold the constitution.

I have been quite busy recently, with my Union work and my University course. As my role is part-time I don't devote as much time as a SABB does, but I try and put 110% into anything I do.

So, what have i done? Well, the AGM, a constitutionary reform and e-referenda have been cheif among my acheivements, and besides that I took part in the World Record last week, and i've been Going Out And Talking to students about any issues that are important to you.

As part of my SABB team, I work with President Fred (he loves being called that lol), Bryony, Dan and Chris, and we're tackling any issues thrown at us. But if there's anything you feel we're not looking at, please let us know.

There's a Student Experience Committee coming up, where we get to represent you to the University, and put forward any problems you've experienced. So far issues include Buses, MyBU, Wednesday Afternoons and e-registration, but if you have something to add, feel free to email me on sugeneralsec@bournemouth.ac.uk.

Other than that, i'll chat to you later!

See you around!
